If you are using any prescription drugs, check with your physician or pharmacist for any drug interaction with infrared energy (Important for patients who are on monitored drug levels)

If you have a recent (acute) joint injury please ask you health care professional when Infrared Therapy can be initiated. If you have a joint or joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind. Vigorous heating is strictly contraindicated in cases of enclosed infections be they dental, in joints or in any other tissues.

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared rays and thus are not heated by this system, nevertheless you should consult your surgeon prior to using Thermotex.
Discontinue Thermotex use if you experience pain near any such implants.

Silicone has been found to absorb infrared energy. Implanted silicone or silicone prostheses for nose or ear replacement may be warmed by the infrared rays. Since silicone melts at over 200°F it should not be adversely affected by Infrared Thermal System use. It is still advised that you check with your health care professional.

If you have diabetes mellitus, poor circulation or any unusual skin condition, you may be more sensitive to heat, and you should always contact your medical doctor before using your Thermotex or any other heat delivery product. Always start with the lower heat setting and use it for shorter periods of time, slowly building up to the recommended time.

If you are taking corticosteroids, you may experience some redness of the skin. Should you experience redness, we recommend that you discontinue the use of your Thermotex pad until you have completed your medication. Should your redness continue, contact your health care professional.

Hemophiliacs and anyone predisposed to hemorrhage should avoid Infrared usage or any type of heating that would induce vasodilation, which can potentate the tendency to bleed.
